Equal Employment Opportunity

The Board will not discriminate based on color, race, religion, national origin, political affiliation, marital status, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation, membership or non-membership in an employee organization, or on the basis of personal favoritism (EEO Policy Statement).

Americans with Disability Act

The Board welcomes and encourages applications from persons with physical and mental disabilities and will reasonably accommodate the needs of those under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, to ensure that persons with disabilities have every opportunity to be hired and advanced on the basis of merit within the DNFSB (Reasonable Accommodation Program).

Veterans Employment Opportunity

Applicants claiming veterans preference must clearly identify if they served on active duty in the U.S. military and were separated under honorable conditions. Military retirees at the rank of Major, Lieutenant Commander or higher are not eligible for preference unless they are disabled veterans. National Guard and Reserve active duty for training purposes does not qualify for preference. If you claim veterans preference, you must submit a copy of your DD-214, which documents your character of service, with your application. If you claim 10-point veterans' preference, you must also submit a Standard Form-15, Application for 10-point Veterans' Preference, and the required documentation listed on the form to support the claim.

More Information about Veterans Preference is available in the VETGUIDE, which may be found on the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM's) website at http://www.opm.gov/veterans/. The SF-15 is also available in the Forms section of OPM's web page.

Drug Policy

The Board is firmly committed to a drug-free workplace; therefore, the unlawful use of drugs by Board employees will not be tolerated. Moreover, applicants for employment with the DNFSB who currently are using illegal drugs will be found unsuitable for employment.

E-mail and Internet Access Use Policy

The Board provides E-mail and Internet access services for the conduct of official government business. These services are subject to the same restrictions on use as are other government-furnished resources provided to employees. Employees do not have the right, nor should they have an expectation of privacy, in the use of Board E-mail and Internet access services. The Board may monitor government computer systems at its discretion.

Background Investigation

Applicants must undergo a full-fledged background investigation, which includes credit card and criminal checks; interviews of associates, contacts with personal and business references; interviews of past and current employers and neighbors; and verification of birth, citizenship, and educational achievements. Once an individual has successfully completed the background investigation, he or she is granted a top secret or "Q" level security clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain a "Q" level security clearance is a condition of employment with the DNFSB.

An applicant who misrepresents his or her background information will be found unsuitable for employment, and an employee who misrepresents his or her background information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Federal service.

US Citizenship

All applicants must be a US Citizen to qualify for employment with the Board. This requirement extends to both permanent and temporary appointments.
