Technical Current Openings

The DNFSB accepts application packages for Engineering and Scientific positions on a continual basis. You may apply using a resume or a similar document and all other required documents listed below. All materials submitted with your resume become the property of the U.S. Government and will not be returned.

NOTE: All Engineering and Scientific positions require the ability to obtain and maintain a Q level (top secret) security clearance. Failure to obtain or maintain a Q level security clearance will result in the termination of any job offer and/or employment in a DNFSB engineering or scientific position.

Other Necessary Documentation to include with Your Application for an Engineering or Scientific Position

  • Optional Form 306 (OF 306), Declaration for Federal Employment. This form determines your suitability for Federal employment, authorizes a background investigation and certifies the accuracy of the information in your application. You may access OPM's website at or call (202) 694-70200to obtain a copy of the form OF 306.
  • A current performance appraisal (Federal employees only).
  • A copy of latest SF-50 or other proof of employment (Federal employees only).
  • The Band(s) or salary for which you wish to be considered.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification statement for Selective Service Registration prior to appointment.

Student Opportunities

The Summer Scholars Program offers summer internships to highly motivated, academically successful college juniors and seniors as well as recent undergraduate students entering a graduate degree program.

Candidates selected for the Professional Development Program are given the opportunity to earn a Master’s Degree while gaining professional experience that include four years of individually tailored developmental assignments, formal academic schooling, and an extensive "hands-on" field assignment.
